Mr Bernard Fautrier, Vice-President of the Monegasque Athletics Federation and Jean-Pierre Schoebel, Director of the Herculis EBS International Athletics Meeting, presented the 2019 edition of the meeting.

After having been elected the best meeting of the 2018 Diamond League, this 33rd edition promises to be still very high level with the best athletes of the moment. After last year’s successful shot put competition at Port Hercule, the organization has decided to renew the experience: the public will be able to attend the women’s triple jump contest on Thursday, July 19 at 7 pm, free of charge. Quai Albert I between the pool and the Rascasse.

On Friday, July 12, the Louis II Stadium will host:

8 men’s events: 100m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m steeple, perch, javelin, triple jump;
7 women’s events: 200m, 800m, Brave like Gabe Mile*, 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, high jump, triple jump.

The traditional fireworks will close the program at 22:15.

During the whole day, there will be 41 races of 1000m.

*Brace like Gabe Mile, in honour of the athlete Gabriele Grunewald. Cancer since 2009, she holds the 11th American performance of all time over 1500m in 4’01”48 performed in Monaco in 2013. In 2014, she became champion of the United States in the 3000m indoor. In 2018, she created the association Brave like Gabe to raise funds and raise awareness about rare forms of cancer. She died on June 13, 2019, having never stopped fighting against the disease.
