Russian pop hits Monaco on Tuesday with the Russian Music Festival

Auctions, exhibitions, concerts … Russian culture is developing more and more in the Monegasque landscape. A development favoured by the growing number of citizens in the Principality (749 at the 2016 census, according to the IMSEE).

So after the concert of Stas Mikhaylov (Best paid Russian singer) last summer, as part of the Sporting Summer Festival, this year is a festival of Russian music that takes place under the marquee Fontvieille.

The Russian Music Festival kicks off this Tuesday and will feature three nights dedicated to cold-weather hits, after hosting Abu Dhabi and Dubai this winter.

On the list of these incredible concerts are heavyweights of Slavic music, such as the rock band Leningrad. Renowned for being Russia’s best-known band, its leader Sergei Chnurov was the country’s third-highest-paying celebrity according to the 2016 Forbes ranking, earning €10 million in revenue for that year alone.

Founded in 1997, the band has never stopped spinning. On Youtube, they represent a real phenomenon: most clips exceed 40 million views, one of them even caracole 147 million. Instead well established with the Russian-speaking population of the region, they were in concert in Nice in 2017.

On 14 August, singers Elena Temnikova and Loboda will be on stage. On the 15th, it will be the turn of singers Emin and Dima Bilan, who was a jury at The Voice of Russia and won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008.
