On September 4, 2019, Mrs Isabelle Picco and Mr Jaime Hermida Castillo, Permanent Representatives to the United Nations, signed joint communiqués committing the two states to strengthen their bonds of friendship and cooperation.

The Principality of Monaco and Nicaragua, both very involved in environmental issues and the fight against climate change, have common concerns about the future of our planet and develop renewable energies to preserve it.

Indeed, more than 55% of Nicaragua’s electricity is supplied by solar and wind energy, thanks in particular to partnerships between the Nicaraguan Government and specialized private companies.

For the record, Nicaragua, one of the largest states in Central America, is an original member of the United Nations since it joined it when it was established in 1945.
