In season 6 of the FIA single-seater championship, which will start on 22 November, Felipe Massa and Edoardo Mortara cars will have a powertrain produced by the German manufacturer, a newcomer to the discipline.

Engaged in Formula E since the genesis of the discipline, in 2013, Venturi enters today into another dimension by formalizing a significant partnership with Mercedes.

After having provided its engines to the HWA team, last season, the Monegasque structure triggers the top gear … and changes its name. “Now under the banner Venturi Racing (instead of Venturi Formula E Team, ed), the team will exploit the EQ technology of Mercedes-Benz for the season 6 “, announced the press release this Thursday.

As part of this new agreement, the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E Team will provide the cooling system, the rear of the chassis, the rear suspension, the dampers, the software, the on-board electronics and the wiring, as well as a new powertrain (inverter, engine, transmission and power management software) designed and developed by the experts of Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains.”

Concretely, the exploitation of the new technological package by Venturi Racing will accelerate the learning process of the Mercedes team, which begins its first season by focusing on the Venturi experience. For its part, the Monegasque team led by Susie Wolff will take advantage of the reliability, precision and diligence that are the hallmark of Mercedes-Benz.

“We are proud to welcome Mercedes-Benz to the Venturi family as a powertrain partner and supplier for season 6,” said Gildo Pastor, president of Venturi Automobiles. “Combining our experience in high-performance electric vehicles with the incredible track record of Mercedes is an essential step in our goal of strengthening our position in an increasingly competitive league, and I am confident that this will be the beginning of the great adventure with our new colleagues from Stuttgart and Brixworth.”

Third in the Monaco ePrix last May, the Brazilian Felipe Massa is back for a second year. The 2008 Formula 1 World Vice-Champion will still be competing with Edoardo Mortara, the Italo-Swiss who gave Venturi his first Formula E victory 7 months ago (Hong Kong ePrix).

Season 6 of the FIA FE Championship will consist of 15 races, from the opening round set in Saudi Arabia (Diriyah) on 22 and 23 November 2019 to the final set in London and 25 and 26 July 2020.
