Prince Albert II receives award for environmental commitment

On a visit to Slovakia, Prince Albert II received this honorary award from Comenius University, commending his environmental commitment.

During a visit to Slovakia, Prince Albert II was, made on Monday in Bratislava, honorary doctor of Comenius University. An honorary title awarded to the sovereign to mark his activities in the field of nature protection and its action towards climate change.

Comenius University, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, is the only university in Slovakia, which has been ranked among the best universities in the world.

It offers about 800 educational programs, from medicine to humanities to theology for some 30,000 students.

Welcomed by Peter Pellegrini, who chairs the Slovak government, the ruler delivered a speech to a panel of personalities before joining the faculty of natural sciences in Mlynska Dolina for a conference on environmental issues, followed by an exchange with students.

This sequence completed a 48-hour trip of the sovereign started Saturday in Vienna, Austria, where he received at a gala the Flame of Peace Award.

Then arriving in Bratislava on Sunday it is in sneakers that the sovereign made an appearance in the Slovak capital to run a few kilometres of the No Finish Line organized for the first time in the country.
