The Rainier-III tunnel closed to traffic this Thursday for test shots

Test firing will be carried out in the Rainier-III tunnel for the future construction of an emergency gallery. On this occasion, specific closures of the tunnel will be scheduled this Thursday between 9am and 12pm.

In order to build an emergency gallery for the Rainier-III tunnel, test shots are required.

These shots will allow us to know the characteristics of the ground for the future breakthrough of the gallery. They are carried out from the tunnel at a depth of about 60 m in relation to the surface. No vibration should be noticeable.

These shots will be scheduled on Thursday 21 November between 9am and 12pm. Five traffic cuts in the tunnel will be necessary during the preparation and execution of the shots, which will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
