From 21st to 23rd February, the Rainier III Auditorium hosted the 14th Monaco – Japan 2020 Artistic Meeting 2020, organised by the Principality’s Department of Cultural Affairs and the Tourist and Convention Authority.

The event was co-sponsored by the Reijinsha group of artists and the the Monegasque National Committee of the International Association of Art (IAA) at UNESCO.

This event has become a major arts festival, held regularly in Monaco in early spring.

The exhibition presented around 200 works by Japanese and Monegasque artists and sculptors, as well as a programme of creative encounters including: the tea ceremony, how to make a mini bonsai, and a workshop devoted to the famous kimono, the traditional Japanese outfit. Women dressed in kimonos prepared and served the famous Japanese beverage to the visitors.

The Monaco – Japan Artistic Meeting is not only an exchange of experiences and practices between Japanese and Monegasque artists, but also an opportunity for everyone to immerse themselves in the traditions and culture of the country of the Rising Sun.
