SBM&#8217;s secret spiced shortbread biscuit recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>We met up with chefs Ken Thomas and C\u00e9dric Campanella in the &#8216;p\u00f4le sucr\u00e9&#8217; at the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Bains de Mer.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We went underground, to the &#8216;p\u00f4le sucr\u00e9&#8217; at the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Bains de Mer, daily supplier of pastries to the hotels and restaurants in the Principality, to meet pastry chefs Ken Thomas, in charge of the &#8216;p\u00f4le sucr\u00e9&#8217;, and C\u00e9dric Campanella. C\u00e9dric revealed his recipe for shortbread biscuits with Christmas spices and honey from La Roua.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The biscuits are available at the Chalet, on avenue de Monte-Carlo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ingr-dients\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>125g softened butter<\/li><li>80g brown sugar<\/li><li>1 free-range egg<\/li><li>300g flour<\/li><li>4g baking powder<\/li><li>1g 4-spice mix<\/li><li>1g cinnamon<\/li><li>100g honey<\/li><li>1 egg yoke (for the egg wash)<\/li><li>100g icing sugar (for the royal icing)<\/li><li>1 egg white (for the royal icing)<\/li><li>Lemon juice<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-recette-des-sabl-s-de-no-l\">Christmas shortbread recipe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Put the softened butter and the sugar in the mixer bowl. Mix.<\/li><li>Pour in the honey, spices, baking powder, and half of the flour and egg.  Mix.<\/li><li>Add the rest of the egg and flour, and mix.<\/li><li>Place the dough on a sheet of greaseproof paper. Add a second sheet on top, press out with your hand, then with a rolling pin.<\/li><li>Leave to chill for around an hour.<\/li><li>Using biscuit cutters, cut out shapes in the dough and place them on a baking tray.<\/li><li>Use a brush to apply the egg wash to the biscuits.<\/li><li>Bake in the oven at 180\u00b0C for eight minutes.  Warning: the temperature and time may vary depending on the oven.<\/li><li>Prepare the royal icing: add the egg white to the icing sugar and mix.
