Anna Chrom\u00fd, the artist and eternal perfectionist with a big heart"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>A brilliant painter, sculptor and designer, Anna Chrom\u00fd passed away on September 18, at the age of 81. Two close friends agreed to talk to us about the artist but also the woman that was Anna Chrom\u00fd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;Sweet&#8221;, &#8220;kind&#8221;, &#8220;humble&#8221;, &#8220;discreet&#8221;, &#8220;generous&#8221;, &#8220;talented&#8221; &#8230; Odile Thomas and Margie Lombard are full of praise for their friend. DR<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-l-art-d-eveiller-les-consciences\">The art of raising awareness<\/h2>\n\n<p>\u201cI got on with her straight away,\u201d says Margie, the manager of a beauty institute in Monaco, of their 33-year friendship. \u00a0&#8220;She is deeply human, kind &#8230; \u00a9 Anna Chrom\u00fd<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p>It was through a shared love of art that the two women became friends, 20 years ago. \u00a0Odile, a trained organist, would see Anna regularly at the opera or at concerts. \u00a0\u201cShe loves art and above all, she likes to pass on her passion for art.\u00a0 She adores Mozart, she even sculpted bronzes of the main characters from Don Giovanni.&#8221;&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p>Art was part of Anna Chrom\u00fd&#8217;s life from childhood. \u00a0Born in Czechoslovakia, the musician&#8217;s daughter finally gave up her career as a secretary with the unconditional support of her husband. \u00a0She first tried painting after training at the \u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts (Fine Arts School) in Paris. \u00a0Her paintings were resolutely contemporary and avant-garde, with shimmering colours, and she even became the muse of the famous painter Salvador Dal\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cShe carried a lot of pain, a lot of sadness inside. \u00a0These paintings helped her to overcome life&#8217;s challenges, \u201dsays Margie. \u00a0With an ability to portray the human body without a model, the themes Anna Chrom\u00fd explored were wide-ranging but also forward-looking. \u00a0She was already addressing climate and environmental issues in the 1970s, for example.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cGenerally speaking, she wanted to raise people&#8217;s awareness, prick their conscience.&#8221; The woman behind the giant candies<\/a><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-surmonter-les-difficultes\">Overcoming challenges<\/h2>\n\n<p>\u201cShe is a perfectionist and a lover of Beauty,\u201d explains Odile. &#8220;She has turned marble into a pure stone. She even waited for five years before finding THE marble she wanted to make this sculpture with.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>She is uncompromising.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<p>Inspired by Raphael and Michelangelo, Anna Chrom\u00fd turned to sculpture after an accident that prevented her from painting. \u00a0Some of her works, which can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.annachromy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">her website,<\/a> have even made their way to Monaco, notably at the Prince&#8217;s Palace, the Yacht Club and the Jardins de Saint-Martin.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;Prince Albert II admires her&#8221; says Odile. \u00a0It was mutual, according to Margie. \u00a0\u201cAnna was very fond of the Prince, but also of the sea, the calm and the safety of Monaco&#8221;.\u00a0All of these reasons led the artist to settle in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.
