On 16 June, the Sovereign attended the opening night of the 62nd Monte-Carlo Television Festival, which ends on Tuesday evening. The Prince was not on his own: his nephew Louis Ducruet, accompanied by his wife Marie, and his niece Camille Gottlieb also attended the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n

A ceremony unlike any other because the Festival wanted to pay tribute to Prince Rainier III, the creator of the event, to mark the centenary of the Builder Prince’s birth. A documentary featuring photos and videos from the period was shown during the evening. A photo exhibition entitled “Hommage au Prince Rainier III, cr\u00e9ateur du Festival de T\u00e9l\u00e9vision de Monte-Carlo” (Tribute to Prince Rainier III, creator of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival) has been set up under the glass roof of the Grimaldi Forum for the duration of the event. <\/p>\n\n

After the traditional photos with stars of the small screen who had turned out in force, the Sovereign presented the Prize for Most Promising International Talent to the French actress Julia de Nunez. The young actress played the iconic Brigitte Bardot in the series of the same name. <\/p>\n

The Prince also awarded the American writer Harlan Coben a diploma of honour for his “outstanding contribution to literature, the arts and entertainment around the world.” The award-winning best-selling author has written many novels that have been adapted into films or series, including the thrillers \u00a0Tell No One, Just One Look and The Stranger.<\/p>\n\n

The ceremony continued with the world premiere screening of the first episode of the Shelter <\/i>series, based on another of Harlan Coben’s books, with the series’ cast in attendance.<\/p>\n

This evening, the Fiction Jury, chaired by John Goodman, will award the Golden Nymphs at the closing ceremony, with an audience of over a thousand guests.<\/p>\n\n
