Political, with 49% of the world\u2019s population going to the polls this year, including the US and Europe, 2024 is a pivotal election year<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Geopolitical, with 32 active conflicts in the world at present, and tensions spreading<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Economic, as there are still uncertainties over what will happen to interest rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"related\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/2022\/12\/francesco-grosoli-monaco-is-attractive-thanks-to-its-stable-banking-and-financial-system-and-its-outstanding-quality-of-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Francesco Grosoli: \u00ab&nbsp;Monaco is attractive thanks to its stable banking and financial system and its outstanding quality of life&nbsp;\u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-key-takeaways-from-2023\"><strong>Key takeaways from 2023<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>2023 was a year of AI and technology, where Wall Street focused on the \u2018magnificent seven\u2019, aggressive interest rates impacted investment and growth worldwide and China\u2019s economic growth underperformed versus expectations. Economic resilience did, however, fend off an expected recession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bubbles-to-watch-in-2024-nbsp\"><strong>Bubbles to watch in 2024&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Could uninvested funds, estimated at $2.5 trillion, create a private equity bubble? Given Big Tech\u2019s spectacular performance in 2023, will we relive the uncertainties of 2001 and 2007? How will the technology or real estate sectors cope if interest rates remain high?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme of this year\u2019s conference was the power of perspective. While some might see those questions as risks, others will see opportunities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grosoli stressed that when it comes to investments in times of uncertainty, it is essential to balance optimism and preparedness, to diversify and to choose the right partners. Hence four of CMB\u2019s main partners were represented by the conference\u2019s speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Anastasia Amoroso (Managing Director &amp; Chief Investment Strategist at<em>&nbsp;<\/em><strong>iCapital<\/strong>), spoke of 2024 as a year for \u201cgreater investor optionality and a broader opportunity set\u201d. Investors will be able to \u201clook across sectors and asset classes, and beyond stocks and bonds to alternate investments,\u201d with Federal Reserve and central bank policy tending towards lower interest rates in the next few months, before introducing the other 3 experts in a round-table format :<em><\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Robert Seminara (Partner and Head of Europe at&nbsp;<strong>Apollo<\/strong>, also a member of the Firm\u2019s Leadership Team<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eric Lawson-Smith (Partner and responsible for <strong>Arma Partners<\/strong>\u2019 Media, Internet, Data and Information (MIDI) practice)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Andrea Valeri (Chairman of <strong>Blackstone Italy<\/strong>, Senior Managing Director in Blackstone Credit)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The outlook focused on navigating uncertainties with resilience and seizing opportunities with strategic vision.
