{"id":217143,"date":"2024-02-14T15:50:21","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T13:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/2024\/02\/tourist-tax-in-monaco-prices-revised-downwards\/"},"modified":"2024-02-14T15:53:02","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T13:53:02","slug":"tourist-tax-in-monaco-prices-revised-downwards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/2024\/02\/tourist-tax-in-monaco-prices-revised-downwards\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourist tax in Monaco: prices revised downwards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Last summer, the National Council approved the creation of a tourist tax, called &#8216;tourist contribution&#8217;, to be paid by tourists staying in Monegasque hotels and hotel residences.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>After a first decree in December, introducing a \u00abtourist contribution\u00bb of \u20ac14 per night per person in the Principality&#8217;s finest hotels, a new ministerial decree was published on Friday in the Journal de Monaco. Prices are revised downwards for all accommodation categories. The tourist tax applies immediately and will be established at the start of each semester, at the beginning of February and August. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-quels-sont-les-nouveaux-montants\">What are the new rates?<\/h2>\n\n<p>In concrete terms, Monaco&#8217;s 5-star establishments will now charge \u20ac7 extra per person per night instead of \u20ac14. This applies to the H\u00f4tel de Paris, the H\u00f4tel Hermitage and the H\u00f4tel and r\u00e9sidence M\u00e9tropole. From \u20ac13, the 4-star establishments drop to \u20ac5 (Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel &amp; Resort, Fairmont Hotel &amp; Residence, Port Palace Hotel, M\u00e9ridien Beach Plaza Hotel &amp; Residence). <\/p>\n\n<p>The &#8216;tourist contribution&#8217; for 3-star establishments will be\u00a0\u20ac3 (the Ambassador Hotel, the Miramar Hotel, the Novotel Hotel, the H\u00f4tel and r\u00e9sidence Columbus). And the only 2-star hotel in the Principality, the H\u00f4tel de France, will charge \u20ac2 per night per person in tax. A symbolic euro will be charged by hotels for influencers and other professionals <i>&#8216;who promote Monaco&#8217; <\/i> and who are staying for free.&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p>As a reminder, this tourist tax applies to people over 18 years old who do not live in the territory and who come to stay in the Principality for leisure purposes. As for group professional events, stays will be \u201c<i>partially or wholly<\/i>\u201d exempt from this tax, as specified by the rapporteur of the bill Franck Julien, last June.
