In the presence of the Princely Family and the most senior members of the State, the ordination of Monseigneur Dominique-Marie David, the new Archbishop of the Principality, took place<\/a> this Sunday 8th March in the Cath\u00e9drale de Notre-Dame-Immacul\u00e9e, Monaco. He will succeed Bernard Barsi, now Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Monaco.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mgr Jean-Paul James, Archbishop of Bordeaux and Bazas, and Mgr Yves Le Saux, Bishop of Le Mans, were also present at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The last ordination in Monaco took place in October 2000 for Mgr Barsi.<\/p>\n

Archbishop David wishes to place family, young people and education at the centre of his missions in his Diocese.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He also emphasised his desire for community respect, saying: “How baptised Christians can find their place as witnesses of Christ in society today, in collaboration with priests; respecting what each person has lived and having a watchful eye towards those who are next to me in this increasingly individualistic world; what look I have on those around me”.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bishop Dominique-Marie David was born on September 21st 1963 in Beaupr\u00e9au in the Maine et Loire region of North-western France, in the Diocese of Angers. He read English Philology at the l\u2019Universit\u00e9 Catholique de l\u2019Ouest in Angers.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As a member of the Emmanuel Community, an association of the Catholic faith, he was sent to the Saint Paul Interdiocesan Seminary in New Louvain, Belgium. At the same time, he studied at the Faculty of Theology of l’Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Louvain, obtaining his second Bachelors degree in Theology.<\/p>\n

He was ordained priest on June 29th 1991, for the Diocese of Nantes as a member of the Emmanuel Community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
