{"id":302012,"date":"2025-06-26T18:27:19","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T16:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/2025\/06\/banque-havilland-monaco-new-twist-thanks-to-fintech-investors\/"},"modified":"2025-06-26T18:36:57","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T16:36:57","slug":"banque-havilland-monaco-new-twist-thanks-to-fintech-investors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/2025\/06\/banque-havilland-monaco-new-twist-thanks-to-fintech-investors\/","title":{"rendered":"Banque Havilland Monaco: new twist thanks to fintech investors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Almost a year after losing its European licence, Banque Havilland&#8217;s Monegasque subsidiary is preparing to rise from the ashes thanks to a trio of technology entrepreneurs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-06-24\/banque-havilland-nears-sale-of-monaco-unit-to-fintech-investors\"><em>Bloomberg<\/em><\/a>, three investors are now preparing to relaunch the Monegasque business: Jason Bates, co-founder of British neobanks Monzo and Starling Bank, Ukrainian technology investor Maksym Koretskiy, and Scottish billionaire Jim McColl. This new consortium replaces <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/2024\/10\/revolut-consortium-to-acquire-havilland-monaco\/\">the one announced in September 2024<\/a>, which included Martin Gilbert, Chairman of Revolut Bank, and sports entrepreneur Eddie Jordan.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-une-transformation-radicale-en-vue\">A radical transformation on the horizon<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new buyers, who are currently awaiting regulatory approval from the Monaco Financial Activities Supervisory Commission and the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority, are planning a complete transformation. The establishment is to become a financial technology company focused on wealth management, under a new name.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-l-heritage-rowland-enfin-tourne\">The Rowland legacy finally over<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The acquisition symbolically marks the end of the Rowland era for the banking institution, which was once controlled by the family of David Rowland, a close associate of Prince Andrew. Banque Havilland lost its Luxembourg licence last year following anti-money laundering failings.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Monegasque subsidiary, which has been in operation since
