In an exclusive interview with Basket News, the owner of AS Monaco Basket, Alekszej Fedoricsev, addressed a number of important issues relating to the club’s future.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Successful, to be sure, but still far from content. At the end of a 2024-2025 season that saw AS Monaco Basket battle it out on all fronts, this time they were unable to add a trophy to their cabinet. Denied their third consecutive championship title in the Betclic \u00c9lite final by Paris Basketball<\/a>, the Roca Team also fell just short of the EuroLeague title against Fenerbah\u00e7e, then against Le Mans in the Leaders Cup and in the French Cup.<\/p>\n\n

Illustrated by the signing of Nikola Mirotic, MVP of Europe’s most prestigious competition in 2022, Alekszej Fedoricsev says the time has come to step up a gear, by no means ignoring the positive strides that have been made. “We are ready to invest more. We are ready to grow. But the next phase is only possible if there is stability,”<\/em>\u00a0he told\u00a0Basket News<\/a>. While he is aware of his team’s encouraging results, the businessman wants to do better and keep moving forward.\u00a0“Now we need the structure to continue growing.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n

A new arena, a reflection of AS Monaco Basket’s ambitions<\/h2>\n\n

To underpin the Monegasque club’s ambitions, its owner hopes to see a new arena built. He doesn’t see that hope as “a dream,”<\/em>\u00a0 but rather “an obsession,”<\/em> or even “a decision”<\/em>\u00a0that “must be shared.”\u00a0<\/em> The aim is to say goodbye to the 5,000-capacity Gaston M\u00e9decin venue, which is a far cry from the structural facilities of the other EuroLeague teams, and build a more modern stronghold.<\/p>\n\n

Although necessary, Fedoricsev nevertheless believes that the plans will involve working together with the Euroleague leadership. “We cannot build alone.\u00a0This is not just our moment, it is the league’s moment too.”<\/em> In other words, the stakes are high. Not just for ASM Basket, but also for the EuroLeague.<\/p>\n\n
