On Sunday 7 September, the traditional all-female vintage car rally organised by the Child CARE Monaco association brought together 80 participants at the wheel of some special vehicles, all in support of disadvantaged children\u2019s education in India.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The event, led by Child CARE Monaco<\/a> president Martine Ackermann, set off from Casino Square in Monte-Carlo, where the participants \u2013 dressed elegantly in line with the theme \u201cFrench Riviera, chic and glamour\u201d<\/em> \u2013 took to the road in their classic cars.<\/p>\n\n

The route led the convoy towards Grasse, with a gourmet stop at La Bastide Saint Antoine hosted by chef Jacques Chibois. The group then continued to Beaulieu-sur-Mer for seaside tea before returning to the Monte-Carlo Beach Club.<\/p>\n

The women\u2019s rally, born of Martine Ackermann\u2019s personal passion for vintage cars, has for twelve years offered an original alternative to traditional charity galas. The closing ceremony took place in the evening at the Monte-Carlo Beach Club, attended by Princess St\u00e9phanie, National Council president Thomas Brezzo and members of the Prince’s Government.<\/p>\n\n

The rally helps fund Child CARE Monaco\u2019s concrete educational projects: the Trestha school in India, which welcomes 90 girls; the Cheysta co-educational school in southern India, with 130 pupils; and a mobile library bus that tours underprivileged neighbourhoods. Through the charity\u2019s sponsorship scheme, an annual contribution of \u20ac179 covers school, food and clothing needs for a child.
