The announcement was made during a conference regarding the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>&#8220;We also want to recognise Palestine as a State under international law, and I do so now before you,&#8221;<\/em>\u00a0declared the Sovereign in his address. Monaco joins over 150 countries that have already taken that diplomatic step.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?height=310&#038;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F814393807728670%2F%3Fv&#038;show_text=false&#038;width=560&#038;t=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"310\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowFullScreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-un-plaidoyer-pour-l-equilibre-et-la-securite\">A plea for balance and safety<\/h2>\n\n<p>In his speech, the Prince restated Monaco&#8217;s traditional position in favour of a balanced approach to the conflict. He defended\u00a0<em>&#8220;two inalienable rights: Israel&#8217;s right to live in security within secure and recognised borders, and the Palestinian people&#8217;s right to a sovereign, viable and democratic state.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>The Sovereign did not gloss over the recent tragic events, stating that <em>&#8220;7 October 2023 is the starting point, in all its horror, of the current chaos.&#8221;<\/em> He said any lasting solution was conditional on the release of all hostages and the disarmament of Hamas.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-1 no longer remain a distant prospect: it must be embodied in institutions, in mutual guarantees, and in effective respect for the rights of each individual.&#8221;<\/em> He concluded his speech with a
