Currently, the fund had raised $212 million, which will go to financing ocean protection projects.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The $212 million of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.credit-suisse.com\/about-us-news\/en\/articles\/media-releases\/credit-suisse-raises-usd-212-million-for-the-first-impact-fund-d-202009.html?t=13_0.08498595949434362\">Credit Suisse Rockefeller Ocean Engagement Fund<\/a> will finance 30 to 50 projects tackling three main ocean-related issues: Pollution Prevention, Carbon Transition, and Ocean Conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOther than creating livelihoods for billions of people and being a source of natural beauty, the ocean serves as a tremendous asset to climate change mitigation, absorbing 93% of climate heat and sequestering 25% of global CO2 emissions,\u201d the bank stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Investing in the Blue Economy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For instance, the fund will help companies transition away from plastic pollution,&nbsp;finance initiatives mitigating sea-level rise and ocean acidification, as well as projects improving sustainable fishing practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ocean is amongst some of the least invested topics from the UN Sustainability Goals yet more than a third of institutional investors have expressed their interest in investing in the Blue Economy,\u201d reminds&nbsp;&nbsp;Marisa Drew, Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head of Sustainability Strategy Advisory and Finance  at Credit Suisse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amongst the many challenges faced today by oceans is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/2020\/09\/prince-albert-of-monaco-co-founds-global-fund-to-protect-coral-reefs\/\">extinction of coral reefs<\/a> and the impact of global warming on marine ecosystems. In Monaco, The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation continues to be a leader in addressing ocean health: its efforts range from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/2020\/09\/street-artists-raise-over-e12000-to-help-monacos-fight-against-mediterranean-plastic-pollution\/\">Mediterranean plastic pollution<\/a>.
