Ms. Cottalorda will serve in this capacity on Monaco&#8217;s new women&#8217;s rights committee.<\/h3>\n<p>This committee is destined to promote and safeguard women&#8217;s rights in the Principality. Its creation comes at the recommendation of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence, the Council of Europe Convention on Action Against Trafficking in Human Beings, and the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. Monaco participates in these three councils.<\/p>\n<p>The press release states:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The role of the committee will be to coordinate, implement, monitor and evaluate national policies and measures taken to promote equality between women and men, and to prevent and combat all forms of violence and discrimination against women.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This announcement comes one month after the National Council building in Monte-Carlo was animated by an event for the United Nations celebration, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/news\/monaco-takes-part-in-international-day-of-the-girl\/\">International Day of the Girl<\/a>. That event was part of a global movement to empower young women and give a voice to the challenges faced by girls around the world. These initiatives in the Principality display a modern approach to equality that is befitting of a forward-thinking country. Ensuring equal representation and opportunities will position Monaco as one of Europe&#8217;s foremost pro women&#8217;s rights countries.<\/p>\n<p>With this committee&#8217;s creation, the Mon\u00e9gasque government reaffirms its commitment\u00a0to ensuring the protection of its female constituents. Ms. Cottalorda will help further this agenda through her management of the committee, which will operate from within the Ministry of State.<\/p>\n<p>It is chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. Representatives from various relevant government\u00a0departments including Mon\u00e9gasque ministries as well as the Department of Justice will comprise the
