In the Provence-Alpes-C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur region, over 150,000 jobs are related, whether directly or indirectly, to the tourism industry.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>David Lisnard was quick to set the tone during Wednesday\u2019s video-conference, lamenting the \u201csad circumstances that prevent us from getting together\u201d. But beyond sadness, it was Lisnard\u2019s anger that was palpable.&#13;\n&#13;\nThe video-conference was attended by leaders of the regional tourism industry, but also by politicians and members of the press.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-le-gouvernement-fran-ais-aurait-d-mettre-en-place-des-scenarii-pid-miologiques\">&#8220;We must try to do what the French State does not do, that is to say, plan for the future&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n<p>David Lisnard, head of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cotedazurfrance.fr\/en\/\">Riviera\u2019s Regional Tourism Committee <\/a>(CRT) and mayor of Cannes, doesn\u2019t like beating about the bush. \u201cIt\u2019s about time we heard the terms \u201ctourism\u201d, \u201cbusiness tourism\u201d and \u201cthe events industry\u201d coming out of President Emmanuel Macron&#8217;s mouth\u2026.We&#8217;re one of the sectors most affected by the crisis but no one seems to be talking about us,\u201d he said.&#13;\n&#13;\nFor David Lisnard, the French government should have set up &#8220;epidemiological scenarios that were based on individual responsibility rather than sanction. And for the Riviera as a whole, what Lisnard calls &#8220;the aftermath&#8221; means a laborious reconquest of the world.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-op-ration-s-duction-pour-la-c-te-d-azur\">Large-scale marketing campaigns<\/h2>\n\n<p>The CTR has based its second recovery scheme on three different epidemiological scenarios.  If the pandemic continues in 2021, the body will launch a large-scale digital campaign aimed at both the French and international markets. &#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>&gt;&gt;MORE ON THE TOPIC : <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/2020\/11\/nice-cote-dazur-airport-wont-go-back-to-normal-before-2024\/\">Nice-C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur Airport won\u2019t get back to normal \u201cbefore 2024\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>However, if it is once again possible to move between European countries, the CTR is planning campaigns to attract tourists from countries with easy access to the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur such as Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Scandinavia.&#13;\n&#13;\nFinally, the CRT&#8217;s\u00a0 last scenario, &#8220;the one we all hope for,&#8221; according to Claire B\u00e9har, the committee&#8217;s director would come in place if international air traffic picks up again. If travel restrictions are removed, the CRT plans to launch a marketing campaign aimed at\u00a0the Russian and American markets.&#13;\n&#13;\nThe third scenario would cost the committee 2.3 million euros. In comparison, the CTR\u2019s marketing campaign after the first lockdown cost 2 million euros.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-lutter-contre-le-d-couragement-de-nos-professionnels-qui-se-sentent-oubli-s\">&#8220;We have to make sure our industry doesn&#8217;t get discouraged because we do feel forgotten&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n<p>Claire B\u00e9har says that the aim of the recovery plan is two-fold. On the one hand, \u00a0it lets the C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur\u2019s tourism sector know what to expect in 2021. On the other, it motivates the sector through France\u2019s second lockdown, a difficult period for the industry as a whole.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a very complicated period for the tourism industry and one that is highly anxiety-inducing. The role of the CRT is to continue to accompany actors and to set objectives that are appropriate to the situation. We have to make sure our industry doesn&#8217;t get discouraged because we do feel forgotten.
