On 7th February 2019, in Strasbourg, at the Council of Europe, a delegation from Monaco participated in the annual meeting of the Committee of Ministers devoted to co-operation between the Council of Europe and the United Nations, on issues relating to human rights.<\/h6>\n

The exchange of views was attended by Mr Coly Seck, President of the Human Rights Council and Mr Moez Chakchouk, Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information of UNESCO, representing Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO.<\/p>\n

Monaco spoke during the thematic discussion on “New Technologies and Freedom of Expression” to highlight the major challenge of the digital age in preserving universally recognised fundamental values, such as the freedom of expression and, in particular, the freedom to inform.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, the priority given by the Monegasque Government, as part of its security policy, to the fight against cybercrime and the protection of personal data was recalled.<\/p>\n

Monaco also intervened on “the resolution on a moratorium on the application of the death penalty, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations, on December 17, 2018”, in order to recall the constant commitment of the Government in favor of the abolition of the death penalty, everywhere in the world and in all circumstances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
