{"id":98948,"date":"2021-11-08T12:25:01","date_gmt":"2021-11-08T11:25:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/2021\/11\/mexico-grand-prix-charles-leclerc-ferrari-in-top-5-again\/"},"modified":"2022-05-21T10:13:11","modified_gmt":"2022-05-21T08:13:11","slug":"mexico-grand-prix-charles-leclerc-ferrari-in-top-5-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.monaco-tribune.com\/en\/2021\/11\/mexico-grand-prix-charles-leclerc-ferrari-in-top-5-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Mexico Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) in top 5 again"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Monaco driver finished fifth in a Mexico Grand Prix\u00a0that was won by Max Verstappen (Red Bull), ahead of Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Sergio Perez (Red Bull). <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>It&#8217;s the third top five finish in a row for Charles Leclerc. \u00a0After finishing fourth in Turkey, and\u00a0again in the United States, the Scuderia Ferrari driver pulled off another promising result in what is proving an excellent second half of the season for him. \u00a0From eighth on the grid, the Monegasque driver got off to a great start, clawing back a few places to find himself among the leaders after a chaotic first bend.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Pierre Gasly was very fast<\/p><cite>Charles Leclerc <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Hot on the heels of France&#8217;s Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) throughout the Grand Prix, Leclerc had to settle for 5th place in the end. \u00a0&#8220;We had a really good pace, but we stopped to try out two different strategies with the two cars, to try to put some more pressure on Pierre\u00a0(Gasly), even though he was very fast, the Monegasque driver explained. \u00a0That&#8217;s why we made a stop pretty early\u00a0on, to push Pierre and try to use Carlos\u00a0(Sainz)\u00a0to come back at the finish. \u00a0It worked to an extent, but not as well as we&#8217;d hoped, that&#8217;s why we swapped positions at the end. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-les-quatre-derniers-grand-prix-s-annoncent-passionnants\">Excitement in store for the four remaining Grand Prix<\/h2>\n\n<p>Leclerc, who is battling with his teammate Carlos Sainz for the world championship, once again got the better of the Spaniard, who came sixth, and the Monegasque is now 7.5 points ahead of him in the standings. Finishing 10th and 12th respectively, McLaren&#8217;s Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo underperformed in Mexico, setting up a fierce battle for third place on the constructor
