L&#8217;ambizioso progetto di collegare Monaco a La Turbie \u00e8 rimasto in sospeso per oltre 10 anni. Le concessioni arrivano una dopo l&#8217;altra, ma le autorit\u00e0 locali e le tensioni interne non permettono di procedere. Nel 1893 i lavori vengono finalmente avviati e la linea viene riconosciuta di interesse pubblico. La &#8220;Compagnie du chemin de fer d&#8217;int\u00e9r\u00eat local \u00e0 cr\u00e9maill\u00e8re de La Turbie (Righi d&#8217;hiver)&#8221; incarica un ingegnere svizzero, il signor Stockalper, di tracciare il percorso. Con il sistema a cremagliera, i passeggeri avrebbero viaggiato a una velocit\u00e0 di 7 km\/h, coprendo i 2,5 km che separano Monaco da La Turbie in circa venti minuti. La linea viene inaugurata il 10 febbraio 1894.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Per gli abitanti del luogo, \u00e8 una vera benedizione. Il comune di La Turbie, incastonato tra la Francia e Monaco, soffre della mancanza di collegamenti tra i due Stati. Una o pi\u00f9 ruote dentate formano un ingranaggio con la cremagliera e danno al treno l&#8217;aderenza necessaria per superare queste salite. Un treno sta scendendo da La Turbie, passando davanti alla stazione di Monte-Carlo alta, quando l&#8217;asse che porta la ruota dentata si rompe. Senza freni, la locomotiva si ritrova cos\u00ec nella stazione bassa. La linea \u00e8 ancora visibile tra la Moyenne Corniche e la base della salita della cremagliera. Per quanto riguarda la stazione, ora \u00e8 diventata una caserma dei pompieri.
