The Monegasque sovereign unveiled a Grimaldi historic sites plaque in Guiscard and inaugurated a unique exhibition at the Château de Chantilly.

Prince Albert II visited Guiscard on Saturday 18 October, a town with a population of 1,800 tin northern France, officialising the town’s inclusion in the network of Grimaldi Historic Sites. Under the Picardy sun, Mayor Thibault Delavenne gave the Sovereign an emotional welcome, mentioning the centuries-old links between the two territories, since the marriage of Honoré IV to Louise d’Aumont-Mazarin in 1777.

“The Grimaldi Sites network now includes more than eighty French local authorities, all of which have something in common with the Principality,” Prince Albert II told the crowd of residents who had come to attend the inauguration of the Grimaldi Communal Cultural Centre, as he held a statuette of François Grimaldi.

The afternoon continued at the Château de Chantilly, where Xavier Darcos welcomed the Prince for the opening of the exhibition “From Monaco to Chantilly. An Enlightenment princess in search of freedom”. The exhibition is about Marie Catherine de Brignole-Sale, Princess of Monaco in the 18th century, and is the result of collaboration between the Prince’s Palace archives and the Musée Condé. Visitors will be able to learn about the life of the major political and artistic figure, whose story reflects the upheavals of her era. The exhibition runs until January 4, 2026.
