The Prince and Princess took part in the second Road Safety Day, organised by the Princess Charlene Foundation on the Larvotto Esplanade on Sunday 29 March.

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene took part in the second Road Safety Day, dedicated to cycling safety and the promotion of sustainable transport. The event, organised by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and held throughout the day on the Larvotto beach esplanade, was aimed at a wide family audience.

The day after Pope Leo XIV’s apostolic visit to the Principality, the Prince and Princess donned their helmets and hopped on a bike in front of the participants. Prince Albert took part in the ‘smoothie bike’ challenge, pedalling to blend a vitamin-packed drink, whilst Princess Charlene kicked off the Monabike challenge.

Free activities for all ages

On the programme for this free event: an entertainment and awareness village, a pump track (a circuit of bumps and bends designed for cycling, skateboarding or scootering), and a circuit dedicated to improving cycling skills.

The Monabike Challenge, organised in partnership with the Principality’s bike-sharing scheme, brought together six teams made up of prominent figures and representatives from Monegasque institutions throughout the day.

GMK and Monegasque institutions are rallying together

This second edition brought together numerous institutional stakeholders committed to the cause, alongside automotive content creator GMK. Gareth Wittstock, the Princess’s brother and Secretary-General of the Foundation, and his daughter Bodie were also in attendance. Following the success of the first edition in March 2025, the Princess Charlene Foundation has confirmed its intention to make Road Safety Day an annual event, extending its long-standing work in drowning prevention to road user safety.
