Entries open for 2026 Prince Albert II Foundation Environmental Photography Award

Entries are now open for this free competition, which rewards photographers committed to raising environmental awareness.
On Tuesday 2 September, the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, in partnership with SEK International University, officially launched entries for the 2026 edition of its Environmental Photography Award. Professional and amateur photographers from around the world can now submit their works for free via the website www.fpa2photoaward.org until Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Launched in 2021 as part of the Green Shift Initiative, this international competition recognises creators who use their art to promote conservation and raise awareness of environmental issues.

Participants can compete in five distinct categories: Ocean, Forests, Polar Regions, Changemakers and Humanity vs Nature. The diverse themes enable entrants to tackle the many facets of today’s environmental challenges.
Each category winner will receive a prize of €1,000. The 2026 Grand Prix, selected from the five winners, will receive an additional reward of 5,000 euros as well as a trip to Monaco to receive their prize. There are also two special prizes: the Prix du Public (Public Vote Prize) and the Prix des Lycéens (High School Students’ Prize), each worth 500 euros. The winner of the popular vote will be offered a unique opportunity to visit the SEK International University research station in the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest. “Photographers have a unique ability to translate the urgency of today’s environmental challenges into a universal language that touches hearts and inspires action. Through this award, we hope to amplify their voices and give their stories resonance beyond the conservation community,” said Olivier Wenden, Vice President and CEO of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
A jury chaired by Jasper Doest
The competition will be judged by a jury of seven international experts chaired by Jasper Doest, a Dutch photographer specialising in conservation. A member of the International League of Conservation Photographers and a WWF ambassador, the regular contributor to National Geographic has won four World Press Photo Awards and the 2023 Environmental Photography Award. The jury also includes Angel Fitor (Spain), Tom Gilks (United Kingdom), Sharon Guynup (USA), Florian Ledoux (France), Steve Winter (USA) and Christian Ziegler (Germany).
The official selection of 36 photographs and the announcement of the winners will take place in mid-April 2026. An exhibition will be held in the Principality in the summer of 2026 before going on an international tour. As for previous editions, a book featuring the selected images will be published by Skira Paris.
