Prince Albert II reaffirms Grimaldi legacy in Roquefort-les-Pins
The Monegasque Sovereign formally welcomed the Alpes-Maritimes commune into the network of Grimaldi Historic Sites during an official visit.
On Tuesday 9 September, Prince Albert II traveled to Roquefort-les-Pins for a symbolic ceremony marking the commune’s inclusion in Monaco’s historical heritage. Accompanied by Mayor Michel Rossi, the Sovereign unveiled a commemorative plaque on the forecourt of the town hall, officially confirming the town’s membership in the “Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco” network.
The recognition reflects centuries-old ties, dating back to the 18th century when two members of the ruling dynasty served as governors of Saint-Paul, a territory that at the time included today’s communes of La Colle-sur-Loup and Roquefort-les-Pins.

Major healthcare project presented to the Prince
The official visit also highlighted the commune’s ambitions in public health. The mayor presented a plan to the Sovereign for a new on-call medical centre, a modern facility designed to expand local healthcare services. The project, scheduled to be opened in October, highlights the vibrancy of the town with 6,800 residents.
The morning ended with a chance for the Prince to meet and talk with residents, in keeping with the tradition of personal connection during his visits to communities historically tied to the Principality.
