Princely couple and Prince Jacques set fire to the Sainte-Dévote boat

The princely couple and the hereditary prince Jacques of Monaco participated on Saturday evening, in the celebration of the patron saint of the country on the quays of the port Hercules then on the forecourt of the church of the same name.

Several hundred Monegasques responded Saturday evening, in front of the church of Saint Devote, during the traditional burning of the boat, in tribute to the Corsican martyrdom and patron saint of the Principality.

After the arrival of the relics on a sailing boat in the harbour, the procession left the Kennedy wharf, where many of the faithful were present, to reach the square of the church.

There, after the Blessed Sacrament, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, accompanied by the hereditary Prince Jacques, carried the very first spark to the fire.
