Eleven wins and counting for Monaco’s Roca Team, victorious against Elan Chalon Saturday night at the Gaston-Médecin arena. The win streak continues for a solid Roca Team that is now second in the Jeep Elite.

Solid second-place holders behind ASVEL, who was beaten yesterday on the floor of the third place team, Nanterre, Monaco won by 15 points against Chalon-sur-Saone (93-78), Saturday night, for the 28th day of Jeep Elite play. After a balanced first half, the Roca Team broke away in the second half thanks to a dynamic Elmedin Kikanovic-Eric Buchner duo (20 points on 8/8 shooting and 8 rebounds for the former, and 16 points on 7/8 shooting and 4 rebounds for the latter). Dominant in the paint, the French international Paul Lacombe also put in a very good match (15 points, 6 rebounds).

Unbeaten in 11

Still undefeated on the return leg, Monaco has racked up an eleventh consecutive win, equaling the streak set by Pau-Orthez in the 2015-2016 season. Consequence: the Roca Boys are eating, and the Gaston-Médecin arena is full to the brim at every match

“I congratulate my players and our supporters who came out in large numbers. I did not like the beginning of the match, you have to show more respect for your adversaries. But the second part of the meeting was much better. The 11 game winning streak? It is not the most important; we must continue to improve. My players will have a day off this Sunday and then we will dig in for our big game in Villeurbanne on Wednesday,” responded coach Sasa Obradovic after the match. The next match will require laser focus if the team wants to set a Jeep Elite record of 12 straight wins.
