On 3rd April, at the UN, more than 500 people took part in the 6th International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (celebrated on 6th April).
This event organised by the Permanent Missions of the Principality of Monaco and Qatar, co-chairs of the Group of Friends for Sport, in collaboration with the Department of Global Communication and the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, allowed to promote the Sustainable Development Goals through sport.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J. Mohammed, introduced introductory remarks. Subsequently, Laurent Dupont, Director of Peace & Sports Association, invited participants to brandish the white card #WhiteCard.
Toronto Raptors President, Masai Ujiri, Laura Gentile, Vice President of Marketing and Origin of ESPN Women, Ann Rosenberg, Vice President of SAP Next-Gen, Agnès Marcaillou, Director of UNMAS, and Juan Pablo Salazar, member of the International Paralympic Committee, supported by moderator Tabitha Lipkin, sports journalist for Fox 5 San Diego, presented the role of transversal sport facilitator for the implementation of the 2030 development program.
