The elected municipal councilor, specializing in cultural affairs, has just taken up her new position in the Cultural Affairs Department.
Françoise Gamerdinger, elected to the municipal council since 2007 where she is the 3rd deputy in charge of culture, has become the new director of cultural affairs. She was appointed to this prestigious position by Sovereign Ordinance No. 7,517 from June 17, 2019. This mother of two children, holder of a DEA and a Capes de Lettres, knows the administration well since she entered it in 2002. Since 2008, she even held the position of Deputy Director. In recent years, she has been involved, in particular, with the Heritage, Literary Awards and Prince Pierre Foundation conferences.
It is part of a collective approach
The Department of Cultural Affairs is responsible for various missions of protection and promotion of cultural heritage by encouraging the activities of associations and artists of the principality. It also administers or manages Monegasque cultural institutions and facilities. Finally, it is also the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, which organizes a number of events in the Principality such as the Printemps des Arts, the European Heritage Day or the Forum of Cultural Associations.
The person who has also been appointed cultural expert representing the Principality to the Council of Europe will not be short of work. A job that Françoise Gamerdinger, the first woman to occupy this position, intends to lead in a “collective” way.
