It is a tragedy that has touched us all, and in Monaco, Ezio Greggio, President of the Comitato degli Italiani all’Estero (Com.It.Es Monaco) and Robert Ferrua, Deacon and President of Caritas Monaco, have decided to take action. The two organisations have just launched a fund-raising campaign to help cover the cost of rent for those who are displaced, the purchase of digging equipment and drainage pumps, as well as to be able to order food for animals.

The fundraising campaign is open to all and a dedicated current account is already in operation, in the name of the Comité Monégasque des Italiens de l’Etranger:

“The situation in the area affected by the bad weather is extremely complicated. Many houses are still flooded, the water has to be pumped out mechanically and there is a serious risk of disease spreading,” reads a press release sent out by the organisers of the fund-raising campaign. “Com.It.Es Monaco therefore intends to have an initial fundraising round to meet the most urgent needs. Only later, when the Italian government appoints a general commissioner for the crisis, will it be possible to take further action, for example by contributing to rebuilding work.”
