The CHPG launched its annual breast cancer awareness campaign on Wednesday 1st October.

Monaco is taking part in Pink October, an international campaign to fight breast cancer, the most common cancer among women and the cause of the greatest number of deaths. “Early detection is crucial to breast cancer outcomes. Remember to self-test regularly, make an appointment with your gynaecologist and/or have a mammogram checkup,” says the CHPG.

From the age of 50, a mammogram is recommended every two years, as this can reveal tumours that can sometimes go undetected by feel.

Annual medical check-ups with a GP or gynaecologist are recommended from the age of 25. The main risk factors include age, excess weight, alcohol and tobacco use, personal and family history, as well as genetic factors.

Detecting cancer at an early stage considerably increases the chances of recovery, and enable the use of less aggressive treatments. The CHPG can be contacted on (+377) 97 98 99 00 for any further information.
