According to The Sun newspaper, the Briton, who has been in the running to take over Manchester United for several weeks, is the preferred choice of the Glazer family, the English club’s current owners.

With two of the five Glazer brothers, Joel and Avram, wanting to remain involved in the running of their club, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid to become only the majority shareholder of the club is said to be edging out the one submitted by the Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, who wants to buy the club in its entirety.

No changes anticipated for OGC Nice’s project

In reply to a question at a press conference, OGC Nice coach Didier Digard said that the potential takeover of Manchester United by Sir Jim Ratcliffe would not affect the GYM project in any way.

“In my view, Manchester is an entirely separate issue, I don’t believe we are dependent on it. The boss has invested so much in Nice that if he can treat himself to Manchester, I’ll be happy for him, because we know that it’s something that is close to his heart. We know that he will not pull out of OGC Nice.”
