Numerous football stars lit up the sixth edition of the Fight Aids Cup, a charity match organised by Louis Ducruet and won by the Barbagiuans on penalties.
Under the patronage of Princess Stephanie, the Louis-II Stadium welcomed a stellar line-up for the sixth edition of the Fight Aids Cup on Saturday. An event where football serves a noble cause: the fight against HIV and support for the Fight Aids Monaco association.
A Ballon d’Or winner and legends
For the first time in its history, this match organised by Louis Ducruet welcomed a Ballon d’Or winner in the form of Andriy Shevchenko. The Ukrainian striker, winner of the trophy in 2004 and captain of Cirque FC, coached by Marco Simone, was unable to prevent his team’s defeat against the Barbagiuans (1-1, 4-3 on penalties).

But the real star of the evening was Eden Hazard. In his first appearance, the former Real Madrid player delivered a performance that was applauded by the large crowd at the Louis-II stadium, earning him the Fred Allard trophy for best player of the match.

AS Monaco legend Ludovic Giuly had to settle for a new role as coach due to an injury that kept him off the pitch.
The cause above all
Beyond the sporting spectacle, marked by goals from Javier Chevanton and Maxime Gonalons, then by a penalty shootout won thanks to Flavio Roma and Olivier Veigneau’s decisive shot, it was above all the charitable aspect that prevailed.

“This victory is a collective one, in the service of an essential cause,” said Louis Ducruet as he lifted the trophy. All of the funds raised were donated to the Fight Aids Monaco association.
The seventh edition will take place in 2027, when the Barbagiuans will defend their title.
