Princess Charlene launches “Water Safety Days” in Léon

On Tuesday 11 June, the Princess Charlene Foundation organised the very first edition of «Water Safety Days» in the Landes department.
Princess Charlene met children from the south-west of France, where introductory workshops in lifesaving and water safety were organised for local children on the Lac de Léon beach.
The workshops were led by Stéphanie Barneix, ambassador of the Princess Charlene Foundation of Monaco and water rescue world champion, as well as her team of athletes including three other Foundation ambassadors: Pierre Frolla (free diver), Kevin Crovetto (gymnast), Jérôme Fernandez (handball). The sessions were supported by Landes lifeguards and the Courant d’Huchet nature reserve.
The fun and educational workshops welcomed 140 CM1 (4th grade/UK Year 5) and CM2 (5th grade/Year 6) pupils. Princess Charlene and Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of the Foundation, were on hand to help the children at the fun initiative.
The afternoon included a presentation of the Foundation and awareness raising among Léon’s pupils of the importance of education through sport. The photos tell the story of the event!
