World coastal rowing elite meets in Monaco for an exceptional weekend
The Challenge Prince Albert II celebrates its 20th edition with a live broadcast on TVMonaco.
This weekend, the Principality is hosting one of the most prestigious coastal rowing competitions. For its twentieth edition, the Challenge Prince Albert II will bring together 26 teams from 19 different countries, including several major figures in the Olympic discipline.
Among the expected participants are the Croatian brothers Martin and Valent Sinkovic, triple Olympic gold medallists, as well as the Dutch rower Karolien Florijn, recently crowned at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Austria’s Magdalena Lobnig, bronze medallist in Tokyo four years ago, completes the high-level field. The Monegasque contingent will be represented by Quentin Antognelli, reigning world champion and prominent member of the Société Nautique de Monaco.
A two-day format
The competition will begin on Saturday morning with open-water races over a distance of four kilometres. Rowers will compete in three categories: the solo, the mixed double sculls and the mixed coxed quadruple sculls.
Then on Sunday, the action will move to Port Hercule for the speed tournament, with timed 500-metre sprints promising intense competition in an equally spectacular setting.
TVMonaco will provide full coverage of the event, with commentary by journalist Benjamin Lamy, accompanied by Maxime Maillet, former world champion. The races will be broadcast live on air as well as on the channel’s digital platforms, allowing rowing enthusiasts around the world to follow this event held under the High Patronage of Prince Albert II.
