Monaco participates in the Moneyval Committee and FATF evaluators training seminar

As part of the 5th cycle assessments of countries that participate in Moneyval Committee for the Fight against Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (AML-CFT), the General Secretariat of the monitoring mechanism of the Council of Europe organised, jointly with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a training seminar for evaluators.

This seminar, which brought together more than 40 participants from many countries (Poland, USA, Georgia, Lithuania, Greece, Canada, Russia, Italy, Liechtenstein, etc.) took place from April 15 to 19, 2019 in the premises of the Economic and Financial Police School of the “Guardia di Finanza” in Rome-Ostia (Italy).

Its purpose was to train experts able to evaluate the policies implemented and the actions carried out by the different countries belonging to the Moneyval Committee on AML / CFT matters. Peers do state assessments.

During this seminar, participants learned how to evaluate the policies implemented by the courts concerning the 40 FATF Recommendations (Technical Compliance) and a series of prioritised results (the 11 Immediate Outcomes that assess the effectiveness of the planned measures, texts and their effectiveness.)

The seminar was attended by Karine Imbert, Head of Section, analyst SICCFIN was led by Yehuda Shaffer, former Deputy Attorney General of Israel, John Ringguth, eminent British jurist, former member of the London General Parquet Crown Prosecution Service and former Executive Secretary of the Moneyval Committee, Richard Walker, Director of Financial Crime Policy, Guernsey and Kevin Vendergrift, Senior AML / CFT FATF Analyst.

For the third year in a row, SICCFIN has enrolled one of its agents in training organised by the FATF and the Moneyval Committee. It shows the commitment of the Principality in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
