Presentation of the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights

On the occasion of the 7th meeting of the Committee of the Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention) which took place On 1st and 2nd April, Céline Cottalorda, Delegate for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights, went to Strasbourg to present the newly created Monegasque Committee.

The presentation was part of a thematic discussion on the trends, challenges and good practices of States Parties.

In her speech, the Delegate recalled: “how a global and coordinated policy was conceived in a small state such as Monaco, where the promotion of women’s rights is a major issue”.

Interactive exchanges took place with other countries such as the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Norway, who shared their respective experiences in global and coordinated policies.

Rémi Mortier, Permanent Representative, Ambassador of Monaco to the Council of Europe and Véronique Ségui-Charlot, Director of Action and Social Aid and Monaco expert to the Committee of the Parties were also present.

The Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights is responsible for promoting equality between women and men. And also combating all forms of violence, subjects covered by the Istanbul Convention that Monaco ratified in 2014.
