10th edition of the operation “Monaco Plage Propre”

The 10th edition of the “Monaco Plage Propre” campaign has started!

Once again this year, the Monaco City Council, the Tourism and Congress Department (DTC) and the Monegasque Sanitation Society (SMA) are renewing their partnership to make smokers aware of the need to maintain the cleanliness and quality of beaches.

Since Saturday, June 15, conical self-service ashtrays have found their place on displays at three points of entry to the Larvotto beach, and pocket ashtrays/key rings are available to the public in three distributors installed at the Solarium of New Dike. These are also distributed in town by summer hostesses of the DTC and in the various information points of the Directorate of Tourism. Once the stocks are exhausted, they will be replaced by a new format of ashtray pocket, called “ashtray click-clack”. As a reminder, all ashtrays can be kept for reuse or on display shelves or in dispensers.

Information flyers entitled “Monaco Zero Mégot”, as well as their English version, will also be distributed to the public throughout the summer to explain the impact of cigarette butts on the environment and encourage everyone’s action to fight against this form of pollution.

Finally, in this same approach, the Princess Antoinette Park, another communal site very popular with families, has just modified its rules and becomes completely non-smoking. The Exotic Garden of Monaco will soon join the Park, becoming, in turn, a completely non-smoking area.

Through all these measures, the Communal Council once again affirms its long – term commitment to the environment.
