The Tourism Directorate is experimenting with the solar information kiosk

As part of its policy committed to a sustainable activity, the Principality’s Tourism and Congress Department is experimenting this summer with a seasonal tourist information office that only uses solar energy. This innovative kiosk is installed for two months on the forecourt of the Grimaldi Forum.

It should be remembered that in order to be closer to the population and tourists, the Tourism Directorate installs five information booths that complement, during the summer season. The two permanent information points on the boulevard des Moulins and the SNCF train station. If this first test gives satisfaction, it is envisaged to increase the stock of these new-look kiosks from 2020.

Occupying a floor area of 12.50 m2 once its solar panels are deployed, this solar kiosk, called Cubox or KSA, of Austrian manufacture, was leased to a distributor based in Villefranche-sur-Mer, the company Serco Holding. It works the second it is open, fridge and fan included, without any connection. Charging even in the absence of sun, its autonomy is unlimited. Ten minutes of sunshine is enough to charge one hour of battery.
