Princess Charlene of Monaco to meet Queen Letizia for the first time as Prince Albert II visits King Felipe VI in Madrid
The Princely Couple will be received by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia to mark the 150th anniversary of Monaco’s diplomatic representation in Spain. A packed programme spanning diplomacy, culture and the environment.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene will make an official visit to Madrid on 1 and 2 June, marking a double anniversary: 150 years of Monegasque diplomatic representation in Spain, and the 10th anniversary of the Spanish branch of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation — whose parent organisation is itself celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
This will be the first time Princess Charlene has been received by the Spanish royal family, an event being followed closely by the Madrid press. The ties between the two houses run deep: Prince Albert I of Monaco served as a navigator in the Spanish navy, and the two families have met on several occasions in recent years, most notably at the Vatican in May 2025 for the inauguration of the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV.
