In October, for the first time, Monaco will host the 36th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie at the Grimaldi Forum. An important event for the Principality on the eve of 50 years of the International Organization of La Francophonie.

On the 30th and 31st of October, Monaco will host an exceptional international meeting, with French as the common language. The 36th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie will be held in the Principality for the first time and will bring together, for two days, the ministers responsible for the Francophonie of 88 states and governments around the French language and the French-speaking world. The event will be held at the Grimaldi Forum, which aims to promote the use and influence of French throughout the world, but which also undertakes many actions in favor of education, innovation, and linguistic and cultural diversity.

Reconciling humanity and the planet

Monaco is one of the founding members of the International Organization of La Francophonie. The fact of being able to welcome one of its Ministerial Conferences is thus the testimony of its attachment to this one as well as to the French language. This year, the theme chosen is “Reconciling humanity and the planet: perspectives in the Francophone space on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the International Organization of La Francophonie”. A broad issue that will engage both the future but also the history of the OIF, and echoing Monaco’s particularly active role in safeguarding the environment. On the eve of this 36th working session, the 108th Permanent Council of La Francophonie will also be held. Three important days for the Francophonie in the heart of the Principality.
